The Nauru Project consists of 240 staff accommodation rooms (RPC1), 600 family accommodation rooms (RPC2) and associated laundry, kitchen, dining, medical, food storage and recreational facilities. The buildings were designed, manufactured and certified in accordance with Australian statutory requirements. The program for the project was four months for RPC1 and five months for RPC2. The start date for the stages were offset by two months. To facilitate the program, MBS used 30,000sqms of manufacturing area and operated 24 hours a day for three months. MBS completed both stages within the time frame with no non-client initiated variations. Due to MBS’s successful delivering of stage 1 and 2, they were awarded a 500sqm operating theatre to annexe the medical centre. RPC1 and 2 consisted of around 10,000sqm of building area and was manufactured in a five month period which met the client’s tight timeframe.
Following MBS’ successful delivery of Nauru RPC1 and RPC2, Canstruct and the Department of Immigration and Border Control engaged MBS to deliver a 1,050m2 medical and mental health centre and a 550m2 surgical unit at Nauru. The buildings were designed, manufactured and certified in accordance with Health Facility Guidelines and BCA requirements.
